SEOUL, ELEVEN YEARS AGO.Seo Yonghwa, a spoiled lass from a wealthy family. A mere sight of tiny insects could make her wail in fear. Spiteful words from children around her age made her terribly sad until she refused to eat anything for the rest of the day. Little bit of scolding from her mother would make her scream. When her father did not comply to her request, she would cry until she acquired what she wished for.Seo Han and Nam Seoyun, Yonghwa's parents, were both wizards. While Seo Han managed a company, major distributor of wizardry literatures, his wife was a member of South Korean Ministry of Magic. They were influential individuals who had many connections within their line of works. However, with great power, comes a great risk that follows. Despite having no intention to make adversaries, Han and Seoyun still had enemies aiming for their throats.The fateful night when the incident happened, Yonghwa was studying the history of magic with her father and Seoyun was cooking their dinner in the kitchen. Some masked men infiltrated the house after subduing the outnumbered guards and found Yonghwa's mother alone in the kitchen. She fought back, fiercely, casting various spells to defend herself from the attackers."HAN, DON'T COME OUT. PROTECT OUR DAUGHTER."Amidst of her fight, Seoyun made sure to prioritize Yonghwa. Seo Han froze on his track. Yonghwa knew he was going to save his precious wife. However, one look towards his daughter was all it took to prevent him from going. Things took an ugly turn as Seoyun was murdered. A long sword pierced her chest from behind and blood spilled from the gaping wound. The silent gasp was her last audible sound before she succumbed to her death.Yonghwa and her father were witnesses of such brutality. Even the spoiled Yonghwa realized the gravity of the situation. Tears brimming upon her eyes, but she didn't let any sound coming out from her lips. Yonghwa knew of the danger for both of them. She desperately held on to her father's shirt, preventing him from going outside to go to Seoyun's dead body in order to hold her once more, for the last time.As the masked men scurried away from Seoyun's corpse, Yonghwa realized it would only be a matter of time before they were found out and killed. Series of words from her mother suddenly crossed her mind. "Dear, whenever you're in a danger, use the flower-adorned pen mommy gave you and hold it tight." So, she did as she was told. Holding her father's trembling hand, she reached for the said pen. They were teleported to the building of Korean Ministry of Magic.It was a portkey, the last gift from Nam Seoyun for her beloved family that kept them alive.

AFTERWARDS.The culprits were caught with the help of the ministry. They derived from Seo Han's business rival who was in the brink of ruin. Despite they got the punishment they deserved, that fateful night still haunted Yonghwa and her father. She was reminded of the sheer terror and the vivid agony from her father's expression as he realized that he had lost his beloved wife. Yonghwa no longer cried after that very night.Nothing is more painful or scarier than the sight of her mother's dead body. Nothing could hurt her better than the thought of her father hurting because he had to forsake his wife for his daughter. Seo Han was slowly recovering back to his cheerful self. However, Yonghwa could see how he sometimes longed to see Seoyun one more time. Guilt would eat her from time to time. Had it not been for her presence, perhaps, her mother would still be alive.Ever since then, Seo Yonghwa swore an oath to herself.Her father would be her sole priority. Those who dare to scar him shall perish in the hand of Seo Yonghwa. She shall study diligently until she becomes a great wizard, stronger than anyone else and cruel to those who defy her family.
